المولد والنشأة: ولد بقرية دنديط، مركز ميت غمر، محافظة الدقهلية بمصر في ( 1/3/3591م )، ونشأ بقرية دنديط حيث حفظ القرآن على يد الشيخ عبد الحميد حجاج وذلك في سنة ( 4691م )، ثم ذهب إلى الشيخ محمد إسماعيل عبده حيث قرأ عليه ختمة لحفص بالإجازة، ثم قرأ عليه رواية ورش عن نافع، ثم رحل مع والده إلى القاهرة حيث عمل والده.
التحق بمعهد قراءات شبرا الخازندارة، والتقى بعدة مشايخ ممن روي عنهم القراءات من خلال مراحل الدراسة المختلفة بالمعهد، ومن هؤلاء المشايخ الشيخ عامر عثمان والشيخ عبد الفتاح القاضي والشيخ محمد العتر، والشيخ أحمد مرعي، والشيخ قاسم الدجوي، والشيخ أحمد الأشموني، والشيخ أحمد مصطفى ( أبو حسن )، والشيخ محمد السرتي، والسعدي حماد، وسليمان الصغير والشيخ عبد الحكيم عبد اللطيف.
المؤهلات العلمية: 1 - شهادة عالية القراءات ( 3791م ).
2 - شهادة تخصص القراءات ( 6791م ).
3 - الإجازة العالية في الدراسات الإسلامية ( 0891م ).
4 - التخصص في الحديث النبوي وعلومه ( ماجستير - 9891م ) بتقدير ( ممتاز ).
5 - العالمية في الحديث النبوي وعلومه ( الدكتوراه - مع مرتبة الشرف الأولى ) ( 2991م ).
6 - الإجازة بالسند المتصل إلى سيدنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في القراءات العشر الصغرى والكبرى من الشيخ عبد الحكيم عبد اللطيف.
الوظائف التي تقلدها: 1 - شيخ عموم المقارئ المصرية.
2 - أستاذ الحديث بقسم الدراسات الإسلامية بكلية التربية، جامعة الأزهر بالقاهرة.
3 - رئيس لجنة مراجعة المصحف الشريف بمجمع البحوث الإسلامية.
4 - عضو لجنة اختبار القراء بالإذاعة والتليفزيون ( اللجنة الموحدة ).
5 - عضو لجنة الاستماع بشركة صوت القاهرة للصوتيات والمرئيات.
6 - شيخ مقرأة مسجد الإمام الحسين رضي الله عنه بالقاهرة.

يوضح الكتاب أنه تحقيقًا لوعد الله ـ تعالى ـ بحفظ كتابه، قيض له من الصحابة أئمة ثقات، تلقوه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وحفظوه في قلوبهم، ووعوه في صدورهم بجميع قراءاته ورواياته، ثم تجرد قوم ممن جاء بعدهم، أخذوا عنهم وعنوا بضبطه، ومعرفة وجوه قراءاته، وعلى مضي الزمن وتوالي الأيام تفرقوا في الأمصار، وخلفهم أمم بعد أمم، حتى أدرك الله هذه الأمة بأن قيض لها من اجتهدوا في ضبط هذه يوضح الكتاب أنه تحقيقًا لوعد الله ـ تعالى ـ بحفظ كتابه، قيض له من الصحابة أئمة ثقات، تلقوه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وحفظوه في قلوبهم، ووعوه في صدورهم بجميع قراءاته ورواياته، ثم تجرد قوم ممن جاء بعدهم، أخذوا عنهم وعنوا بضبطه، ومعرفة وجوه قراءاته، وعلى مضي الزمن وتوالي الأيام تفرقوا في الأمصار، وخلفهم أمم بعد أمم، حتى أدرك الله هذه الأمة بأن قيض لها من اجتهدوا في ضبط هذه القراءات وميزوا بين المشهور والشاذ، والصحيح والباطل، على أسس علمية سليمة وأركان مضبوطة، ومن هنا قيل : القراء السبعة أو العشرة أو الأربع عشر لأنهم اشتهروا أكثر من غيرهم بنقل هذا العلم والتصدي لإقرائه لغيرهم، فيوضح الكتاب تلك المراحل وتفنيدها مع بيان أنواع القراءات وأحكامها ونشأة تلك القراءات والشاذ منها وحكمه .
