بدأ أبو جعفر تاريخه بذكر الأدلة على حدوث الزمان، وأول ما خلق بعد ذلك القلم وما بعد ذلك شيئاً فشيئاً، على ما وردت بذلك الآثار، ثم ذكر آدم، وما كان بعده من أخبار الأنبياء والرسل، على ترتيب ذكرهم في التوراة، متعرضاً للحواد
