هذه "حكايات محبوبة" رائعة يحبها الأبناء ويتعلقون بها فالصغار منهم يتشوقون إلى سماع والديهم يروونها لهم، والقادرون منهم على القراءة يقبلون عليها بلهفة وشوق، فيتمرسون بالقراءة ويستمتعون بالحكاية، وهم جميعاً يسعدون بالتمتع بالرسوم الملونة البديعة التي تساعد على إثارة الخيال وتكملة الجو القصصي. وقد وجهت عناية قصوى إلى الأداء اللّغوي السليم والواضح، وطبعت النصوص بأحرف كبيرة مريحة تساعد الأبناء على القراءة الصحيحة. وهتم كل كتاب بأسئلة تساعد على تنشيط الحصص التعليمية، وتلفت النظر إلى الملامح الأساسية في القصة وتستثير التفكير.
هبنقة والمحتالان، قصة مكاري بسيط، قرر محتالان الاستيلاء على حماره فقاما بحيلة ذكية صدّقها المكاري.
الحمار والثور والفلاّح، قصة ثور تعب من الحراثة فأراد زميله الحمار مساعدته، لكن الفلاح الذي سمع حديثهما، كان له موقفه الخاص.
أما الحلم فقصة تاجر، اسمه عبد الله، رأى في حلمه رجلاً يحدثه عن ثورة طائلة تنتظره في القاهرة، فقرر السعي وراء حلمه.
ثلاث قصص قصيرة، في الأولى نماذج من الذكاء الذي يستخدمه صاحبه على غير وجه حق، في الثانية أمثولة عن العمل، وفي الثالثة دعوة لتلبية نداء القدر.
