هذا الكتاب يتحدث عن تلك المدينة التي طوت آلام الجزائر أخبارها، وطمس جيل الحداثة آثارها، ودبّت إليها البداوة,فذهبت نظارتها، فأنكرها الآباء ونزع عنها الأبناء، وانتكست أعلامها، فاشتاق البلبل لأنس أسمارها، والنّسيم,لعبق رياحينها، وحنّ الموج لذكر بحّارتها وخفق أشرعة مراكبها، وهَفَتْ الأسماع إلى لحن أوتارِ عُودها،,والأبصارُ إلى جمال ورِقَّة أنامِل فنّانيها.,دلّس التي افترش إنسان هذا الكتاب يتحدث عن تلك المدينة التي طوت آلام الجزائر أخبارها، وطمس جيل الحداثة آثارها، ودبّت إليها البداوة,فذهبت نظارتها، فأنكرها الآباء ونزع عنها الأبناء، وانتكست أعلامها، فاشتاق البلبل لأنس أسمارها، والنّسيم,لعبق رياحينها، وحنّ الموج لذكر بحّارتها وخفق أشرعة مراكبها، وهَفَتْ الأسماع إلى لحن أوتارِ عُودها،,والأبصارُ إلى جمال ورِقَّة أنامِل فنّانيها.,دلّس التي افترش إنسان ما قبل التّاريخ أرضها، وتدثّر بسمائها، واختطّ مدينتها الفينيقيون؛ غفل عن,ذكرِها أهلُها، فأفَل نجمُها من سماء الحواضر وأمّهات المدن، وتراجعت سُمعتها في سلمّ التّمدّن، وجَهِلَ,تاريخها من كان خارجًا عن أسوارها، وأُوصِدَت دُونَه أبوابها، فضاق فضاؤها بعد أن كان رحبًا، وهجَرَها,أحلامُها بعد أن كانت قِبْلَةً لأهل العلم والإمامة في الدّين والدّنيا، يحجُّ إليها الرَّحّالة ويؤمُّها القادةُ والملوك,والأمراء، ويتغنَّى بها الشُّعراء.,دلّس التي طمع في لطافة صيفها ودفئ شتائها وخيرات أرضها وبحرها كلّ من ساد عصره من الدّول,والممالك والامبراطوريات التي توالت على البحر الأبيض المتوسّط، والتي كانت حاضرةً في حربهم وسلمهم،,آخذةً من فنّهم وذوقهم، تتوارث العلمَ والمدنية جيلاً عن جيل؛ انقطع سندها، وانتثرت حبّات تراثها إلاّ من,آثار رَسمٍ اندَرَس أو بقايا من فنٍّ وجمالٍ وذوقٍ وخُلق انتَكَس.
