قد يتبادر إلى ذهن القارئ لأول وهلة ان يتساءل عن علاقة المازنى الكاتب والأديب بالسياسة باعتباره قد عرف باعتباره أديبا وكأحد كتاب المقالات الأدبية والمؤلفات الإبداعية البارزين فى جيله غير أننا نود التاكيد على العلاقة الحميمة بين الأدب والسياسة تلك العلاقة التى تتضح من زاويتين : أولهما أن الأدب بشتى فنونه إبداعا ونقدا يمثل موقفا من الحياة الإنسانية فى شتى تجلياتها ونشاطاتها بما فيها السياسة بطبيعة الحال مما يعنى أن يكون للأديب موقف أو رؤية سياسية لأحداث عصره سواء قصد ذلك أو لم يقصده وسواء كنا ذلك الموقف ظاهرا أو مضمرا والزاوية الثانية هى أن الكثيرين ممن أدركتهم حرفة الأدب وإن اجتنبهم بريق السياسة والعمل السياسى والحزبى فاشتغلوا به من باب الصحافة ذلك أن غالبية الصحف وخاصة اليومية خلال النصف الول من القرن العشرين كانت صحفا سياسية وحزبية.
