هذا الكتاب الذي يقدمه الأب "جان ماريا جاتسا السالسي" للقراء هو ثمرة جهد علمي وخبرة طويلة في مجال التراث العربي المسيحي الذي اختص به ونشر عنه مقالات عديدة، وهو في كتابه هذا يجمع خمس رسائل اختارها من التراث المسيحي، بشكل عان ومن كنيسة المشرق القرن (11-14) بشكل خاص وإليك سرد لمتن هذه الرسائل والرسالة الأولى في الصلوة ومنافعها لإيليا النصيبيني، وفيها شرح لأحوال صلوات النصارى ولأسباب وجوبها، وما يكتسب بها مستعملها ويجتنيه في ثمرها، ويبين لماذا صارت صلاة النصارى مستخرجة من الكتب العتيقة والحديثة معاً، ولم صارت صلاة النصارى أكثر ما يرتل به فيها من زبور داود النبي، ولأي شيء صارت أوقاتها سبعة، وما الواجب من هذه السبع صلوات على جمهور النصارى. ما التطوع منها، وأي أوقات الصلاة أفصل وفي أي المواضع هي أنفع وما العلل في الأوقات التي رتبت أئمة النصارى فيها، جواباً لرجل سأل عن ذلك. الرسالة الثانية جاءت تحت عنوان "شرح صيام النصارى" وهي لمؤلف مجهول ينتمي إلى كنيسة المشرق وفيها شرح لصيام النصارى، وتفصيل لما استنه الحواريون ووصف للسبب في صيام السيد المسيح، وكيفية صيامه، ووصفوا أيضاً لمذهب موسى وإلياس والنبيين وغيرهما من الأنبياء في الصيام، وفي الرسالة أيضاً شرح للأسباب الكامنة خلف جعل الصيام أربعين يوماً... أما الرسالة الثالثة: "قول مختصر في الأبوة والبنوة للبطريرك مكيخا الأول ففيها قول مختصر الأبوة على مذهب دين النصرانية ورأي عقيدة السريان المسيحيين الساكنين في الجهة الشرقية . أما الرسالة الرابعة: "رسالة مكيخا فجاءت في حقيقة الديانة وهدفها تقوية إيمان المسيحيين، وأخيراً جاءت رسالة "البرهان والإرشاد" للصليبا بن يوحنا الموصلي وهي موجهة للمسيحيين المغاربة بهدف وحدة المسيحيين.
