ربما تحاول الروائية السعودية "نهلة الثقفي" في روايتها الجريئة والناقدة "همس المجهول" فتح الأبواب المغلقة والذهاب إلى ما وراء كواليس مجتمعها، تأخذ لقطات حية عن الحياة اليومية للمجتمع الخليجي والعربي عموماً، إستطاعت بحنكة الروائية المبدعة أن تصوغها في رواية. عندما نقرأ "نهلة الثقفي" نشهد نصاً ينادي نصوصاً أخرى، والتناصية هي شرط الوجود بما هي إختلاف وإشتباك النصوص، وبهذا لا يبدو هذا النص موضوع الرواية - كلمات أو جمل منمقة، وكذا ليس حفراً في جيولوجيا النصوص الأخرى، أو بنية لغوية، أو رؤية للعالم، أو وعاء اللاوعي الفردي أو الجمعي، بل هو كل ذلك مما يقوم بالتفاعل النصي، فتقوم بذلك خاصية النص الحواري. في "همس المجهول" تدير الروائية مجامعيها من شخصيات الرواية بحنكة عالية هن نساء يردن الخروج من دائرة مغلقة، فرضتها شروط الحياة والعادات والتقاليد، والمكانة التي احتلتها المرأة "تولين - رانية - مي..." يبحثن عن رجل يعطي لحياتهن معنى، أما الشباب وجوهاً شاردة ليس لها معنى؛ تقول الروائية "وجوه مختلفة لا يربط بينها أي رابط، ترى الفتيات مقنعات البعض مقنع بألوان متعددة والبعض الآخر مقنع بنقاب يخفي أغلب ملامحهن، والجميع يسعى لهدف واحد... إرتباط عاطفي وإن كان وهمياً غير حقيقي (...) لكنهم أطفال أبو البقاء في طفولتهم يعيشون هموماً ومشاكل ابتكروها، فامتلأت قلوبهم بحزن ليس له سبب أو أساس، أما الآخريات فقد تلاعب بهن الزمن ورسم خطوطاً على وجوههن يحاولن تغطيتها بالألوان مؤقتاً قبل إزالتها بيد أبرع الجراحين". "همس المجهول" عمل روائي أقل ما يقال عنه، هادف يطرح قضايا هامة، قديمة وحديثة، تنبه من خلالها الروائية إلى الثغرات التي يرزح تحت وطأتها شبابنا العربي، في محاولة لإعادة بناء الشخصية الإنسانية بشكل جديد، في مجتمع يحترم فيه الإنسان كخاصية أعلى في الوجود.
