(حي التنك) رواية تتطرق إلى موضوع المباني القديمة في بيروت، وكيف يمكن لجرة قلم، يتبعها ضربة جرافة أن تسوي مبانيها الأرض، من دون النظر إلى مشاعر قاطنيها. تقول إكرام الداعوق عن روايتها هذه "... حي التنك ليس باسم علم .. هو إسم عام وليس في ذهني حي بعينه إنما كل الأحياء الفقية التي تشكل أحزمة البؤس في بيروت والتي يلجأ إليها أبناء الفقر من كل الأصقاع حتى من أبناء بيروت ليشكلوا كتلة بشرية تكون صواعقاً آيلة للإنفجار في كل لحظة ( ... ) إن هذه الطبقة من الناس لها تأثير في المجتمعات أكثر من المثقفين الذين "ينقون" دائماً ويعترضون على مظاهر الحياة الإجتماعية دون اقتناع .." وفي الرواية تركز الروائية على المرأة ومعاناتها على كل الصعد، حيث الشخصية المحورية في الرواية "صفاء" فتاة نشأت في حي التنك وتمردت على واقعها شأنها شأن الرجل إلا أن الروائية أعطتها خصوصية، حيث تتعرض صفاء إلى تحرشات جنسية حتى من أقرب المقربين إليها - أبوها - الذي نشأ في جو من الفقر الشديد الذي حوله إلى مسخ إنسان لا يحمل أي مسؤولية ولا يؤمن بأي مبدأ فكري أو ديني. "حي التنك" هي أكثر من رواية، تقحم بجرأة الفروقات الطبقية، ومسببها، الخلل السياسي الذي ينتج عنه تشرذم إجتماعي وانعدام للتكامل والتضامن بين الطبقات وتأثير كل ذلك على طريقة عيش الناس وفكرهم ومبادئهم في الحياة ...
