كتبت روايتي هذه قبل أن أسمع برواية "مزرعة الحيوانات" لجورج أورويل فهي لا تحمل بالتالي من مشترك مع روايته إلا مكان الحدث.. فهو يتكلم عن الشيوعية وتهافتها وأنا أتكلم عن تهافت النموذج الثقافي العربي المعاصر وانحدار قيمه إلى الدرك الأدنى.. وليس المقصود من هذه الرواية السخرية من الشعوب العربي أبداً فأنا مسلم عربي وأعتزّ بعروبتي.. لكن الإصلاح لا بد له من القسوة أحياناً والنقد لا بد له أن يكون لادعاً وصريحاً إن أردنا التغيير..
تدور الرواية حول مزرعة "عربستان" التي يقرر مالكها "المزارع" أن يتركها لفترة غير محددة عاهداً لكلبه الأمين مسؤولية حراستها ومعتمداً إنه غرس في نفوس سكان مزرعته من الحيوانات تعاليم الأمانة والأخلاق والطاعة.. وتسير الأمور على ما يرام لفترة قصيرة إذ أن وحوش الغابة المقاتلة دوماً فيما بينهما لن تلبث إلا أن تتوحد ضد المزرعة متناسية خلافاتها للنيل منها بعد رحيل مالكها.. فالمزرعة التي استعصت على معشر الوحوش بوجوده أصبحت أخيراً لقمة سائغة لهذه الوحوش بغيابه وهذه فرصة لا تتكرر.
