يدرس هذا الكتاب الحاسبات الإلكترونية الصغيرة أو "الميكروبروسور"، والوحدات الخاصة التي تعمل معه من ذاكرة وملقى، كما يعطي صورة واضحة عن طريقة برمجة الميكروكومبيوتر والميكروبروسور بلغة "أسمبار" ولغة الآلة. كما ويدرس طرق تصميم أنظمة التحكم المتخصصة بإدارة ومراقبة العمليات الصناعية أو الإدارية أو التكنولوجية على اختلافها، إضافة إلى طرق بناء "الجسم الثقيل" Hardware "واللين" Sottware لهذه الأنظمة والأجهزة. كما ويدرس هذا الكتاب الهيكلية الداخلية للحاسبات على اختلافها من ميكروبروسور إلى ميكروميتي كومبيوتر إضافة للذاكرة ووحدات الإدخال والإخراج. وهو مفيد لجميع الطلاب والهندسيين في حقل الإلكترونيك أو الكهرباء إضافة إلى كل من يرغب في التعرف على الإلكترونيات والبنية التحية للأنظمة الإلكترونية المتخصصة. كما ويدرس هذا الكتاب إحدى أهم لغات البرمجة وهي لغة "أسمبلر" والعمل بها. ويحتوي هذا الكتاب على المصطلحات العربية الصحيحة التي تم اعتمادها في الدول العربية والمأخوذة من معجم المصطلحات العلمية العربية المترجم عن المعجم الإنكليزي الصادر عن Mc Grawhill ويتألف الكتاب من عدة أقسام أهمها: الحاسبات وتمثل المعلومات، الميكروبروسور واستعماله، برمجة الميكروبروسور وأنظمة التحكم، صناعة وتصميم الذاكرة، تصميم الأجهزة الخارجية المتخصصة للإدخال والإخراج، بالإضافة إلى مسائل عديدة في البرمجة، وأمثلة مفصلة حول تصميم وبرمجة أجهزة التحكم. وفي النهاية يحتوي الكتاب على قاموس بأهم المصطلحات المستعملة في هذا الحقل.
