نقد تنمية القطاع الصناعي في مقدمة مهام التنمية الإقتصادية والإجتماعية، التي غدت المحور الرئيسي لمفكري ومخططي إقتصاديات الدول المتقدمة والدول النامية سواء، منذ مطلع القرن الحالي، لخواص ذاتية في الصناعة كونها نشاطاً إقتصادياً قادراً على تأمين متطلبات السكان في الكم والكيف.
وقد جاء هذا الكتاب بثمان فصول اختص الفصل الأول منها بالتعريف بالمفاهيم الأساسية وإستعراض وتحليل المواقع الصناعية، في حين عالج الفصل الثاني الإطار النظري لدراسة مقومات الموقع الصناعي، وتفرغ الفصل الثالث لدراسات تطبيقية في التحليل المكاني لتلك المقومات، واهتم الفصل الرابع بدراسة الإطار النظري والتخطيطي للمواقع الصناعية وإستراتيجياتها، أما الفصل الخامس فقد تدارس مسألة التوزيع الصناعي من تركز وتشتت وتخصص وتنوع وأنماط إقليمية موقعيه.
أما الفصل السادس فقد انفرد بدراسة تقييم المشروعات الصناعية، واهتم الفصل السابع بدراسة الجدوى الإقتصادية والفنية والمالية، في حين تفرغ الفصل الثامن لدراسة معايير وطرق قياس كفاءة الأداء للمشروع الصناعي.
