بالابتعاد إذن عن دائرة الإسلام النصي نحو تجسيده التاريخي– الجمعي في نمط عيش مجتمع معين، وكذا عن السياسة كمبحث كلامي إلى مجال تجسدها في سلطان سياسي ناشئ أو قائم، ينقلب سؤال العلاقة بين الإسلام والسياسة إلى مبحث في الكيفيات التي يحضر بها الاعتقاد الديني في المجتمع وفي نوعية الصلات التي ينسجها هذا الاعتقاد مع السلطان السياسي. إنه سؤال صلة المقدس بالسياسة، ومن ثم صلة الكيفيات التي تجسد بها المقدس (طقوس- رموز– معتقدات) في المعيش بأنماط السلطان السياسي التي تتجسد بها السياسة. لن ندعي أننا قد قدمنا أجوبة مطلقة عن هذه الأسئلة، وفي الآن نفسه لم نتركها معلقة، بل فتحنا باب تفكيرها عبر تفكير الآليات التي تنتج وترسخ بها إحدى المؤسسات الرمزية (مؤسسة المضحِّي) الصلات بين المقدس والسياسي.
