ولِدَ بابلو ميدينا في هافانا، كوبا، حيث عاش هناك حتّى الثانية عشرة من عُمره، ثم رحلَ مع عائلته إلى الولايات المتحدة الأميركية عام 1960، واستقرَ في نيويورك· روائي، وشاعر، وكاتب مقالات· أصدرَ حتّى الآن ثمانيّة كتب في هذه المجالات· تتميّز جُملةُ كتاباته ذات الوعي العميق بكوبا، بلده الأصلي، بالتعبير عـن تجربـة النفي، والأرضيّـة المعقـدة العـاطفيّة والنفسـيّة الـتي تعتـرض شخصيـاتـه حـين الوقـوف عليهـا· عـبَّرَ النـاقد الأدبـي لـوردز جيل Lourdes Gil عن رؤيته لطبيعة كتابة ميدينا: “تبدو المزاوجةُ غير المتوقعة بين وثوقيّة الأحداث وواقعيتها من جهة، ومساحة الخيال الأدبي من جهة أُخرى، مفاجِئةً وواضحة· كما يقوم ميدينا بتأويل الوجوه المختلفة للسيطرة السياسيّة عبر العصور، ويُعيد بناء بوتقة الحداثة وتقاليد الكولونياليّة التاريخيّة·” * “كل لغة تملكُ ايقاعها الخاص ومجموعة من الاعتبارات، لكنَّ هذا لا يؤثر في كيفيّة قراءتي لها· فالقراءةُ تتجاوزُ حدود اللغات·” * “القارىءُ حاسِمٌ في إبداع الكتاب تماماً بقدر ما هو الكاتب حاسمٌ في كتابته· القارىءُ، في الحقيقة، هو المُبدع الشريكُ·” بابلو ميدينا
