تعتبر التربية هى العامل الأساسى فى تشكيل الشخصية القومية وازاء الأطروحات المطروحة الآن من اتجاهات العولمة ، وما تلقى به من تداعيات ثقافية وحضارية إيجابية كانت أم سلبية ، فإنها تلقى على الباحث التربوى أعباء تتمثل فى الضرورة وأهمية البحث الجاد من أجل تأكيد الذات مقابل نفى الآخر الذى هو أثر من تداعيات تلك الاتجاهات المعاصرة ، ووسط هذا الجدل القائم حول هذه النقطة فإن البحث التربوى لابد أن ينفعل بها محاولاً تفسير وتعليل وفهم حركة الثقافة من وراء حركة التعليم ، وتأثير هذه الحركة فى ما هو مطروح من تراث تربوى ، أو له آثاره المجتمعية فى حركة المجتمع فى أيا فترة من الفترات.
إن الإباضية قد شهدت عناية مستمرة بمجال التربية، حيث نشأت مدارس فكرية نذكر منها مدرسة الإمام جابر بن يزيد، والإمام أبى عبيدة مسلم بن أبى كريمة التميمى، الربيع بن حبيب، مدرسة موسى بن خلفان الخليلى، ومدرسة نور الدين السالمى، وكانت عنايتهم مبكرة بتربية سلوك أفرادهم وإنارة الطريق لهم بمعالم واضحة من كتاب الله تعالى وسنة محمد (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
