كتاب في السير الذاتية والتراجم، تابع فيه المؤلف الخطة التي اعتمدها في الجزء الأول، وهما ذيل لكتاب الأعلام لخير الدين الزركلي الذي توقف كتابه عند وفيات 1975، فتابع النؤلف على نسقه في ترجمة الأعلام الذين توفوا بعد ذلك التاريخ. وهذا الجزء الثاني يتناول المؤلف فيه المتوفين من الأعلام بين سنتي 2001 و 2005 بالإضافة إلى مستدركات فاتته ممن توفي بدءاً بسنة 1976. ضم هذا الجزء أكثر من 580 ترجمة لأعلام من شرائح مختلفة من المجتمع أدباء وعلماء وشعراء وفلاسفة وقادة وملوك أو رؤساء وإداريين وأطباء ومستشرقين وسوى ذلك، وعلى امتداد الوطن العربي؛ وعلى شرط الزركلي في كتابه المذكور، وبالأسلوب الذي جاء في الجزء الأول من إتمام الأعلام، في إيراد الترجمة مختصرة ما أمكن، متضمنة تاريخي الولادة والوفاة بالتقويمين الهجري والميلادي، والاسم الصحيح والمستعار المشهور إن وجد يلي ذلك حياة العلم الشخصية والعلمية بما فيها من مواقف أو مشاركات في الواقع الاجتماعي أو في مجاله التخصصي، إضافة إلى آثاره المتناقلة أو المكتوبة. وذُيَّل ذلك بالمراجع والمصادر في الحاشية الملحقة بكل ترجمة، زيّن الكتاب بعض صور شخصية للأعلام لمن أمكن منهم، أو نسخ من خطوطهم.
