"سمندر" حكاية تراثية تحكي قصة حِرْباءُ إسمه سمندر وسمندر هذا عاشقٌ للشمس يحب النور ويكره الظلام. في كلّ صباح، كان موعد سمندر مع الشمس .. فما إنْ تطل خيوط الفجر الأولى، حتى يستيقظ من نومه. يُسرع إلى أقرب شجرة، يتسلق الجذع بثبات، (...) منتظراً خروج الشمس من وراء الجبل.. ولكن سمندر لا يكتفي بأن يستمتع بالدفء لوحده، بل يهرع إلى كل الطيور والسناجب والأرانب والدببة، فيوقظها جميعا، ليمرحوا، ويلعبوا، ويتشاركوا الفرح والحيوية. ولكن، في مقابل النور يوجد دائماً ظلام، في الطرف الآخر من الغابة، كان يعيش بعض الخفافيش في كهفٍ مظلم.. كانوا يكرهون الشمس، ظناً منهم أنها تصيبهم بالعمى ... ويريدون أن يعم الصمت كل الغابة ... فيبقى الكل نياماً ... فقرروا اختطاف سمندر والتخلص منه ... وما أن حل الظلام حتى أسرع الخفافيش إلى سمندر ليحملوه إلى منطقة نائية بعيدة. صعدوا به رأس الجبل، وهناك، رموه في مواجهة الشمس، التي ستشرق في صباح اليوم التالي: إنها قصة العيش بين الظلام والنور ... فأيهما نختار ...؟
