إنفصلت حكومة عن حياة القرية لتعيش عالماً مفعماً بالأمسيات الحالمة والليالي الحمراء، وأوكلت مهام القرية إلى وزرائها، ثم أغلقت أبواب قصرها أمام جايع وضائع وكل الأقارب والأصدقاء والمستشارين إلا بعض القائمين على خدمة القصر وسيدته، الذين لا يعكرون مزاجها بالأخبار التي لا تسر بال أحد، الذين يقولون لها دائماً أن كل شيء في القرية يسير على ما يرام.
