كان العمدة يمسك بالشيشة حين لمح شخصاً يقبل مسرعاً ويبدو عليه الذعر الشديد حتى سقط يلهث أمام الحضور وقال: هلال مقتول في الترعة يا عمدة، فألقى العمدة بالشيشة من يده وقال: نهار اكحل زي الطين ودخل إلى داخل الدوار واتصل بالمأمور وأخبره بوجود جثة هلال عبد العال في ترعة المقص القريبة من القرية وأخذ بعض الخفر وحسين ابو مصطفى وذهبوا جميعاً إلى مكان الجثة فوجدوا الكثير من أهالي البلدة توافدوا والبعض الأخر يجري هنا وهناك إلى مكان الجثة، وصل العمدة وأمر الخفر برفع الجثة فوق الطريق لحين حضور الشرطة، وحضر المأمور ورئيس المباحث وخلفهم سيارة أجرة بها عبد الوهاب وسعيد وحامد، وأخذ رئيس المباحث يجمع كل من رأى شيئاً.
