إن إشكالية النهوض بهذه الأمة، وامتلاك الوسائل المناسبة للإصلاح والتجديد، وتوفير إمكانية التجاوز والتغيير للواقع البائس، ومحاولة المقاربة والاقتراب ما أمكن من الأنموذج، وتمثل سيرة خير القرون، هي الهاجس الدائم للمسلم الواعي، المدرك لرسالته ومسؤولية خلافته في الأرض ووراثته للنبوة والكتاب وإيصال الرحمة للناس كافة. ذلك أنه أصبح من المسلمات اليوم، تلك الحقيقة التاريخية، التي تتمثل في الشعار الكبير، الذي بات مقروءاً ومسموعاً من كل مسلم، مهما كانت درجة ثقافته: أن التخلف والسقوط الذي يلحق بهذه الأمة إنما كان بسبب بعدها عن الإسلام وانسلاخها عن قيمه ومجافاتها لأخلاقه. من هنا فإن دراسة وتقويم حركات التغيير والتجديد من خلال دراسات موضوعية وأدوات صحيحة، يمكن أن تغني التجارب وتضيف أعماراً الى عمرنا، وعقولاً الى عقلنا. ولعل المشكلة أو الإشكالية والإصابة التي لحقت بالكثير من حركات التجديد والنهوض والوراثة الحضارية تحركت تحت ضغط إحساسها بالمشكلة، ونظرت الى المشكلات على أفضل الأحوال وكأنها ذات بعد واحد، لذلك جاءت المعالجات والمقترحات جزئية وثمرة لردود فعل في غالب الأحيان ما لبثت أن اختفت وعجزت عن تقديم الحلول. من هنا تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا دعوة للنظر والمراجعة ومحاولة للمساهمة في هذه المراجعة، من خلال بحثين كتبا في مناسبتين مختلفتين حول مؤهلات الوراثة الحضارية والخصائص المطلوبة للأمة حتى تكون شهيدة على الناس كما أراد ربها، وبذلك تتحقق الخيرية لها وللإنسانية.
