إن تخاذل الهمم، وضعف العزائم، وقلة الاهتمام بالآثار النسائية، دعا بعض الجهلة لأن يجاهر بعدم استعداد المرأة لتعلم العلم، وقصور مداركها عن استيعاب دقائقه، والاضطلاع بحقائقه، كما أن البعض نزعوا إلى أن المرأة الشرقية تتسكع في أحط دركات الخمول والضعة، وأن بينها وبين الرقي بوناً بعيداً. ففي هذا الكتاب دررٌ غوالٍ تفاخر بتناسقها الثريا، نثرتها أميرات البيان ومليكات الجمال، تلفي بها الحسن مجسداً، أتحفت بذلك العقد غاداتُ العصر الأديبات، زينة تزدان به منهن اللبات، ليثير عزائم المتأخرات إلى اقتفاء آثار المتقدمات. تلك البدور المبديات عجائبا اللابسات من الكمال جلاببا لقد جمع المؤلف فيه نفائس تعتبر من جواهر الأدب، ليتسنى لكل ذي فكر نقاد، ورأي ثاقب، أن يتحادث مع فضليات النساء من نابغات مفكرات، وشاعرات مجيدات، وواصفات مبدعات، وخطيبات مصقعات، قلدن بدررهن جيد الدهر ضروباً من المحاسن، وزيّنّ بتحف آثارهن النفيسة صدور محافل العلم والأدب. بل ليعلم الجنس النشيط أن بينهن سبّاقاتٍ يجارينه بميدان البراعة والإبداع، بلغن من عذوبة التعبير، ولطافة الأسلوب، وبلاغة التأثير، ورشاقة الألفاظ أسمى الدرجات. بل ليعلم الذين ثملوا بخمرة التمدن الأوربي، أن نساء الشرق لا يقل استعدادهن العقلي، ومقدرتهن الأدبية عن شقيقاتهن في الغرب، وليتحقق الذين ضرب الجهل بينهم وبين الحقيقة حجاباً أن المرأة مستودع ذكاء خارق، إذا أحسن استثماره رفعها إلى أسمى درجات الكمال. ينصح به: هواة الأدب ، ومحبو اللغة العربية.
