الكتاب من تحقيق عامر حسن صبري. اشتمل الجزء الذي بين أيدينا على ( 123 ) نصا في جعلها أبو حاتم رحمه الله في الزهد ، والمتأمل في الكتاب يلمح ما يلي : 1 - رتب أحاديث الكتاب على ترتيب مشايخه البالغ عددهم في هذا الكتاب ( 20 ) شيخا ، فجعل حديث كل شيخ من مشايخه على حدة ، فإذا انتهى من أحاديث ذلك الشيخ أورد أحاديث شيخ آخر . فإن كان شيخه يروي عن عدة مشايخ فإنه يرتب أحاديثهم على نفس الترتيب السابق . 2 - بلغ عدد الأحاديث المرفوعة ( 13 ) حديثا ، أما بقية النصوص فهي آثار عن الأنبياء عليهم الصلاة والسلام ، وعن الصحابة والتابعين رضي الله عنهم . 3 - اشتمل الكتاب على جملة لا بأس بها من تفاسير أئمة السلف لبعض آيات القرآن العظيم . 4 - لم يلتزم المصنف الصحة فيما يورده من نصوص .
