"لم نشأ أن نغدو مثقلين بحطام أكثر يصب جهاته كلها على أحياء مثلنا. مترب وثقيل هواء هذا الحب ومنزو، الغرابة كلها في حصى الممرات الدخيلة التي أودعتها على كفي ظلال قلبك. انتظرت مراراً أن تنز الحقول غضبها سيجت رحى البنفسج بعمري كله أرديت للورد ضريحاً، ما عاد الكلام، ولا استنارات الغرف الوطيئة بصمت أصم ولا استحالات الخطى في العظم تفي بأقدار الموت الحثيث. غرور بائس يرجم المعاطف الثرية سلاح صدىء يكدس الطلقات المتعبة جرح عتيق تهجى دمه وترنح خلف الحانات. الشتاء انتفى وأورث الفصول انتحاراته لم يعد شيئاً يقوى على النحول المميت كل الخزانات والأرفف والجدران تردمت بل تهاطلت منها الصور والتذكارات وبقايا مناديل الدموع، كل الزوايا تعرت وأهالت كمائنها الرديئة كل الحنو القليل تلاشى، لم يعد بيننا غير ذاك الباب الموصد غير أصابع لا تقترب غير قبلة لا تتوهم اللهاث غير وميض تبدد ببطء متناع في شدته".
