لما كان لكل شاعرٍ طقوساً يكتب حولها شعره، ويدور في رحابها، فإن "علي محمد الأمير" الشاعر " يجمع في طقوس الماضي والحاضر معاً، راسماً صورياً سوريالية أكثر تعبيراً ماضي الشرق وأبرز من غنى القصيد، فها هو يخاطب عنترة العبسي في (أرحْ جوادك) القصيدة التي افتتح بها مجموعته الشعرية، يقول فيها:" أرحْ جوادك/ إن الحيّ قد خذلك/ وانسَ البطولات/ أو .. فاخفض بها جدلك/ أقول يا سيدي: ما بالخيام دم كي يستثار/ فدعها، وابتدر طَللكَ/ حشدت فوق رمال الخوف أسئلة/ ما مرّ دهر بها/ إلا وقد سألك/ أما ترى القيظ؟ والأحلام حافية (..) تظن أن الفتى/ من قال ها أنذا/ من قال ها أنذا /يا ابن السواد هلك (...)". وهكذا، يجمع الشاعر في بقية قصائد المجموعة بين الحاضر والماضي، ويجعل من شعره أداة تعبير قائمة على استنطاق المعاني الأكثر رسوخاً في تاريخ الشعوب كالبطولة والفداء، والإنتصارات والخيبات، عبر صور شعرية ضاجة بالمعاني والرموز وغنية بالبلاغة، رغم لغة الترميز التي يتبناها في معظم قصائد المجموعة. من عناوين القصائد نذكر "إشارات"، "أرح جوادك"، "بين الرصافة والجسر"، "عبس النخيل"، "قفي صنعاء"، "زرقاء الخليج" ... الخ.
