في مجموعته الشعرية "تكتبني الظلال لأراني" يكتب مسعود الحمداني قصائد من صميم حياته وعلاقاته الإجتماعية، حيث يحاول طرح كل ما يجول بخاطره وتحويلها إلى لغة الشعر، خاصة تلك التي عاشها مع خلاّنه ومحبيه وأهله، فها هو يقول في قصيدته الموسومة بـ "تكتبني الظلالُ لأراني" : أنا المرحومُ بالبركات / لا شيئاً يواري غرفة الموتى، / قميصي قُدّ من قبلٍ، / وجيبُ عباءتي وطنُ / كلما أوقدت أسئلتي / اراني / شاهراً حرفي .. / نبوءةُ صانعِ القبلات، / ترمق خاطفي / موتٌ أنا .. أم ماردٌ أعياه ظله؟!!". وهكذا يستمر الشاعر في شحن عواطفه الجياشة الراكنة في صدره محاولاً تأثيث فكرته النهائية عن الحياة والكون والأشياء، لذلك نراه ينتقي عباراته وكلماته انتقاءً ذكياً، وكأنما هي فلسفة حياة قبل أن تكون شعراً في قصيدته "قطار يمر" يقول: "مضى العمر يبكي دون جسورٍ، / ودون سماءٍ، / ودون ضفاف، / مضت أربعون ننوحُ الغناء، / نصيدُ الردى دون أن نلتفت، / ونصعدُ حيث المنايا، / تصيرُ غناء. وبهذا المعنى فإن الشاعر يترك لنا حرية تلمس المعاني في عالم ممتلىء بأكداس من الرؤى والعوالم الخلاقة والمتشابكة، فهو سريالي وصوفي ووجودي حيناً، وعبثي متفلت حيناً أخرى، لذلك أن عدداً من الدلالات المتناوبة نراها تدخل في بنية صيغ نصوصه وفي التقاطات ذهنية وحسية بديعة، لا يعرفها إلا من خَبر الشعر وفنونه والوانه.
تضم المجموعة "تكتبني الظلال لأراني"، ثمانية عشر قصيدة تراوحت بين الشعر الموزون والمقفى، شعر التفعيلة؛ والشعر العربي الحر والمقطوعات النثرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "نقطة ضوء" ، "أغنية لموتٍ يحتضر" ، "أكفان اليمام" ، "ما قالته الريح لمريم" ، "عشبة الأبدية" ، "كماء يحترق ذاكرة للعبير" (...) وقصائد اخرى.
