سجل أحمد بن علي الكاظمي يومياته الخاصة ومذكراته منذ أن بدأ عمله الجديد كمساعد لمدير مدرسة الأمراء بالرياض سنة 1356هـ. وتنفرد هذه اليوميات برصد العديد من الأحداث الخاصة، بمدرسة الأمراء، وما كان يجري في مدينة الرياض من خلال مشاهداته ومشاركاته وسماعه، وتعد هذه المذكرات واليوميات من المصادر النادرة لتاريخ المملكة العربية السعودية إذ سجل تلك الأحداث من خلال المعايشة والمعاصرة وبالتنقل، وتسجل هذه اليوميات جوانب كثيرة من تاريخ الملك عبد العزيز منها ما يتعلق بالتزامه الديني وحرصه على تلاوة القرآن وسماعه، واهتمامه القوي بتربية أبنائه تعليمهم، وجوانب من شخصية جلالته الإنسانية.
