هذه هي بداية اليوميات التي حاول أن يتذكرها الطبيب الياباني الوحيد الذي عاش وسط المدينة. والذي -رغم جروحه وآلمه- عاد إسى مستشفاه ليلحق بإخوانه وأصدقائه وأبنائه وذويه.. أبناء هيروشيما.. أما الذي رآه ميكيهيكو هاسيبا الطبيب الياباني خارج البيت.. وأما الذي رآه في مستشفاه.. وعلى قارعة الطريق فليس هناك على هذه الأرض من يستطيع تصوره. كانت القنبلة الذرية الأولى قد أسقطت فوق هيروشيما. ليست قنبلة عادية تزن خمسمائة طن كما تصور الطبيب.. فالقنابل التقليدية تحدث دوياً وتأتي دماراً.. لكنه ليس دماراً بالجملة.. وليس إبادة جماعية للأرض والبشر والحيوانات والمحاصيل والجو أيضاً.. الصور وحدها.. التي تنشر لأول مرة هنا... هي التي تستطيع أن تظهر بشاعة الجرم والجريمة.. ومن عجب أن أولى هذه الصور التقطت لانفجار القنبلة الذرية بنفس اليد التي ألقت القنبلة.. يد الطيار الأمريكي الذي ارتكب الجريمة، راح يحمل وثيقة ارتكابها وصك إدانته.. ومن عجب أيضاً.. أن مفاوضات تجرى الآن.. بين الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.. وبين الاتحاد السوفيتي عن نشر الصواريخ الذرية هنا وهناك.. مفاوضات تقول: نبقى على الصواريخ النووية ونعقد معاهدة عدم اعتداء.. هذا هو صوت السوفيت.. ومفاوضات تقول: نذهب إلى خيار الصفر، ونبعد الصواريخ.. ولكل هؤلاء أقول: ولكل شباب أوروبا واليابان حتى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وأفريقيا وآسيا.. وتتوجه هذه المجموعة من الصور لأولا قنبلة ذرية صغيرة هي -في رأي الخبراء- واحد إلى مائة من قوة مثيلاتها اليوم.
