يتناول هذا الكتاب ست قصصٍ لطيفةٍ تتجلى بالعناوين: مسمار واحد - المسؤولية - نجوم السماء - جرس مدينة آتري - ليو العجول - قريةٌ جاحدةٌ. تُوسع هذه القصص آفاق الناشئة وعقولهم، وتمدهم بالجديد من حكايات متنوعة، لبلدان العالم المختلفة البعيدة والقريبة. تُبْرز كل قصةٍ منها صورةً عن حياة الشعب الذي تحكي عنه، وعن عاداته وأفكاره، حتى تبدو كأنها رحلاتٌ سياحيةٌ شيقةٌ يرحل فيها القارئ خلال الحدود مستمتعاً بالجديد والتجديد، ويستخلص ما فيها من عبرٍ ومواعظ. فالقصص (مسمارٌ واحدٌ) و (المسؤولية) و (نجوم السماء) من إنكلترة، وقصة (جرس مدينة آتري) من إيطالية، وقصة (ليو العجول) من الصين، وقصة (قرية جاحدة) من إفريقية. وتزدان كل قصةٍ منها برسوم تعبيرية تجذب انتباه الطفل إليها وتجعله يعيش في خياله مع أحداث القصة وبيئتها، وكأنه يعايشها ويعاصرها.
