لو كنت معنا... اليوم عمر الزعني... يا عمر الزعني... أين أنت منّا اليوم أذكره كيف كان يتحرك على المسرح، كان بطيئاً، وممتلئاً، في وجهه زرعت نظاراته السميكة، كان متحركاً وواثقاً، كأحياء بيروت القديمة، وشواطئها ذات الخلجان الصغيرة التي هي مسكنً للصيادين وأسماكهم الطازجة والنظيفة. لو كنت معنا اليوم لقلت لنا بحسِّك الشعبي الهجائي، ما لا يستطيع غيرك أن يقوله. ولكنتَ أضحكتنا على أنفسنا، وكم نحن اليوم بحاجة إلى هذه الضحكة الحزينة، خصوصاً على أنفسنا. يحضر على المسرح، فيعمّ الصالة سكوت، فيبدأ ويبدع، وأحياناً يسجن. عرفته طبعاً عن بعد، في أواخر الخمسينيات وأوائل الستينيات.. كنا أصبحنا شباباً، وأخذنا نبحث عن معنى لما يجري حولنا، وعن أنفسنا. وكان عمر الزعني لنا بالمرصاد. رأينا فيه ثائراً ضاحكاً، رأينا فيه بسطاء الناس، وكان الناس مشروعنا نحن ايضاً. ضحكنا معه، ورددنا قصائده في جلساتنا.. لو كنت حصان عند بيت فستق ياكل بندق، باكل فستق.. لو كنت حصان! أسردها كما كنا نرددها حتى لو حذفنا منها كلمة، أو أضاف أحدنا إليها كلمة لكي يتفاصح، أو لكي يعطي معنى آخر. كنا نشعر أن شعر عمر الزعني هو ملك جيلنا، وهذا يعطينا حق التصرف. سيعيش عمر الزعني رغم الموت، لأنه كان حساساً وموهوباً وشاعراً شعبياً بامتياز. يدافع عن الفقير، ويهجو الجميع. وكان له رائحة بيروت وما زال. يمكننا اليوم أن نردد معه، ما كان يرعبه، عندما يتأمل بحسِّه المرهف بيروت ومستقبلها. يا ضيعانك يا بيروت.... الغريــــــب بيتمخـــطر والقـــريـب بيتمـرمــر واللي بيفوت ما بيضهر واللي بيضهر ما بيفوت يا ضيعانك يا بيروت... آه لو كنت معنا. برهان علوية نيسان 2010
