يتحدث "لويس هرلاند" في هذا الكتاب من سلسلة "أعلام الفكر العالمي" عن الكاتب العالمي "كورناي" وذلك عبر استعانته بمواد بحثه ودراسات كانت قد كتبت عنه بالسابق نذكر منها: ببليوجرافية كورناي التي أعدها بيكو عام 1876 والتي استكملها لوفردبيه وبيلي 1908، ونقاط غامضة وجديدة من حياة كورناي عام 1888 لفرنسوا بوكيه، أصل مسرحيات كورناي ومصادرها منذ ميديه حتى برتاريت بقلم ل.فيلفيل ريدل عام 1926، التاريخ الحافل للأدب المسرحي الفرنسي في القرن السابع عشر، بقلم كاربختون لانكستر، بإضافة إلى الملاحظات التي وردت في الأعمال الكاملة لكورناي بقلم مارتي لافوني مجموعة كبار الكتاب. هذا بالإضافة إلى تاريخ الأدب الفرنسي في القرن السابع عشر وهو أحد الأعمال الحديثة بقلم أنطوان آدم... وبعدد هذا المراجع نلحظ أن "لويس هرلاند" قد توسع في استقصاء المعلومات عن كورناي حياته، سيرته، توجهاته الفكرية، أشخاص مسرحياته... وفيما يلي ذكر لعناوين هذا البحث: نبذة عن حياة كورناي، رجل قدماه ثابتتان على الأرض، تلميذ مونتاني، الفكر المشاكس لكورناي، مذكرة استرحام إلى الملك 1676، القس دولويس، مصور تاريخي كبير، النساء والحب، الوهم الضاحك، أبوة وشيخوخة، الشاعر المسيحي، كورناي (سمة للتناقض) مؤلفات كورناي المسرحية.
