في هذا الكتاب يتحدث صاحب السيرة الذاتية عن تجربته الحياتية الغنية المتجددة التي بدأها طفلاً لم يبلغ الحلم، عانى مرارة العوز، والحرمان من فرص التعليم النظامي وغير النظامي، ومن وطأة مشاعر الإحباط. وكان عليه أن يقبل بالبديل الذي لم يكن من خياراته وأن يبدأ هجرة كفاح دامت نيفاً وخمسين عاماً. والكتاب يمثل مسلسلاً طويلاً من الإنجازات والنجاحات التي تخللتها ثغرات من المشاكل والانتكاسات، كادت في بعض الأحيان تشل من عزيمته وتسد عليه مسالك التقدم وتعطل لديه معطيات التغيير نحو الأحسن. ولعل من العبر التي قد تستفاد من التمعن في قراءة هذه السيرة أن ما يسمى بالحظ ليس مسألة ما ورائية خرافية وإنما ترتبط في الغلاب بالقدرة على اكتناه الظروف واستقراء الاتجاهات ورصد الأحداث والاستفادة من فرص التغيير في المجتمعات ذات الطبيعة الحركية، وكذلك باعتماد قابليات الفكر الإبداعي الخلاق الذي لا يسرف في التأويل ولا يركن إلى توقع المستحيل. قيل في صاحب هذه السيرة الذاتية الكثير في معرض تقييم أدائه المهني وتقريظ ما ينسب إليه من سبق نوعي ضمن إداراته الفكرية والثقافية، مما يظهر في فصول السيرة وفي ملاحقها صراحة أو ضمناً. وربما كان من مسلك الختام أن يشار إلى حيثيات براءة الجائزة رفيعة المستوى التي قدمت له في جامعة انديانا في الثامن من نيسان 1987، فقد قال عميد كلية التربية الدكتور هوارد مهلنغر: "إن الدكتور بوسف وزميليه الذين استحقوا جائزة هذا العالم يمثلون قمة الجودة والإبداع في مهنتنا التعليمية".
