مجزرة إهدن 13 حزيران في جبال لبنان الشمالي. منذ منتصف الليل، تطوّق وحدات القتال في حزب الكتائب التابع لآل الجميّل منطقة إهدن، وهي بلدة في الجبل، في قلب معقل آل فرنجية. إنها الساعة الرابعة صباحاً: دوَّى مدفعٌ.. إنها إشارة الهجوم. لم تكتفِ الاستخبارات الإسرائيلية بالتخطيط لـ "عملية الأرز"، بل نظّمت أيضاً عملية سرية ضمن العملية قضت بإقناع بشير الجميّل بإيكال قيادة الهجوم إلى سمير جعجع للتأكد من بلوغ الأهداف المرجوّة. في ذلك اليوم، تمّ اغتيال النائب طوني فرنجية وزوجته فيرا وابنتهما جيهان البالغة من العمر ثلاث سنوات. وقُتل ثمانية وعشرون من أهل البلدة. فمن خلال إلغاء زعيم مسيحي من الصفّ الأوّل معادٍ لإسرائيل، ابتدعت استخبارات الموساد مفهوم الاغتيال الهادف لشخصيات محددة. وبذلك، أهدت السلطة المسيحية إلى بشير الجميّل، وأوصلت إلى سدّة رئاسة الجمهورية عائلة مؤيّدة لها تستطيع تل أبيب أن توقّع عبرها اتفاق سلام منفصلاً مع لبنان. لقد شهد لبنان سلسلة طويلة من الحروب بين المسيحيّين إثر مجزرة إهدن التي ضيّقت أكثر بُعْدَ "العقدة المارونية" بين الكتائب حلفاء إسرائيل والعرب المسيحيّين المنادين بانتمائهم الكامل والتام للعالم العربي. وبعد مرور ثلاثين عاماً، لم تُحَلّ تلك العقدة: فالجنرال ميشال عون وسليمان فرنجية، ابن النائب المغدور به، يجسّدان اليوم مستقبل العرب المسيحيّين. والكفاح الذي يخوضانه معاً إنما يدحض ما يُسمّى بـ "صدام الحضارات" الذي يسعى إلى مواجهة بين الشرق والغرب.
