قصص "سعيد فرحات" القصيرة وثيقة الصلة بعالم أبطاله الخاص، فهم ليسوا من الماضي، ولا هم من المستقبل، وإنما عالمهم هو الحاضر بكل ما فيه من روح العصر بقلقه وإغرائه بعلومه وظلامه وانفجاراته وفرص السلام الغامضة فيه. وأبطال هذه القصص التسع القصيرة ينتمون إلى بيئات لبنانية وعربية متعددة، أو على الأقل هم من هذا المجتمع العربي المعاصر، ومن طبقتين رئيسيتين من طبقاته.. مسحوقة، ومتوسطة إجمالاً. ولعل أكثر هذه القصص ما كتب خلال السنوات الأخيرة، ولذلك هي مقطوفة من الأحداث التي ما زالت قائمة على أسوأ ما يكون عليه القلق على المصير، فأبطال القصص هم من الذين نشاهدهم اليوم وكل يوم أو نسمع عنهم في كل لحظة.
