في مرحلة التغير والتطور والإصلاح تشتد الحاجة إلى تعزيز الأمن والاستقرار، ولا يكون إلا من خلال تعزيز الهوية المجتمعية، و(مقالات الوعي الوطني) تهدف إلى المحافظة على هذه الهوية، فهي نتاج سنوات طويلة من العمل الوطني مع مختلف القوى السياسية، بدءاً من السبعينيات إلى الألفية الثالثة التي تشهد مرحلة إصلاح شاملة. ربما يقع الكتاب بين أيدي المعنيين بالشأن الوطني والمتابعين للحراك السياسي لذا من الأهمية التذكير بأنها مقالات سبقت أحداث فبراير عام 2011م، فهي مقالات تناولت مرحلة الإصلاح، لذا جاءت للتحذير من الصراع الطائفي والمذهبي والعرقي، فالمنطقة الإقليمية اليوم تحتاج إلى عملية إنعاش وإعادة ترتيب بعيداً عن الإقصاء والأحادية وحب الذات.
مجموعة المقالات جاءت لتحريك الشعور الوطني الذي تذوب تحته كل الانتماءات، وتتلاشى أمامه كل الولاءات، ويبقى الجميع تحت مظلة الوطن، فالبحرين تتكون من أطياف مختلفة مثلما جزرها المتناثرة، مسلمين ومسيحيين ويهود ومجوس وغيرهم، والمسلمون (سنة وشيعة)، يقوم التعايش بينهم على المواطنة، وهذا ما سعينا من أجله خلال السنوات الماضية.
