في ديوانه الشعري "حوار الحكايات" يسعى الشاعر والأديب الأردني إبراهيم السعافين إلى شيء من المزج بين الشعر والقصة، فمال في بعض قصائده إلى سرد وقائع تجعل من القارئ يتتبع الحدث بتفاصيله، كما لو كان يقرأ قصة، بكامل مكوناتها السردية، وشوقاً إلى معرفة النهاية، ولكن في بلداننا العربية جميع الحكايات حزينة، فها هو الشاعر يشدو شقيقه (محمد) في(كنت أبي) فيقول: يا أخي!/ كنت أبي حين هب الرصاص علينا/ من الشرق، خلساً/ لم تكن هدفاً طيعاً/ أسعفنا الجبال وهمنا/ وظل الهوى مشرعاً/ في البيوت/ داهمتنا الأعاصير في العربي/ تقنا لرعي النوارس في باحة الشوق/ سراً/ أمطرتناالليالي ببرد النوازل في/ جنبات الكهوف/ يا أخي(...)". فالشاعر حينما خاطب أخيه، اهتم بالتركيز على اللحظة الزمنية الهاربة بوصفها المفتتح للحدث، ثم انتقل إلى وقائع ممتدة في الزمن، لكنها في الواقع حدثت في لحظة، وهي لحظة الإسترجاع والتذكر، وهي التقنية السردية التي يلجأ إليها الروائيون عموماً لسرد الحدث في الماضي، وبهذا نجح الشاعر في صنع (حوار الحكايات) بأدواته وفنونه هو كشاعر. يضم الديوان عشرون قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "تحلم أكد... تسأل سومر"، المستوحد"، فوضى الدم"، "حلم ليلة صيف"، "تسقط سنة"، "ترنيمة"، "لعبة الزمكان"، "يا سائلي"، "حوار المسافات"، "يا زماني"... وقصائد أخرى.
