تتحرك شعرية "عقيل صاحب شويع" في "أبجدية أخرى للخراب"، عبر الرمز الحرفي، والمعاني المضمرة، التي تحتمل عدة قراءات ، وفيها يحفر الشاعر بقلمه في دروب الحياة والفكر لإستخراج معاددن الأخلاق والفضائل وجوهر الأشياء، فاسحاً المجال للقارئ كي يشارك في متعة الإكتشاف فيتماهى أكثر ويذوب في القصيد. ففي مجموعة (حالات قصوى) يكتب الشاعر "قصائد الظلام" قائلاً: "لست وحدي إذا.../ في سطوع هذا الصمت/ تخفي الوحشة وظل موت يرافقني/ كأقرب صديق لدود،/ هذا الظلام الداكن/ يحتضن عزلتي/ كسمراء جبلت على إيواء العابرين/ لتمضي النهارات في إياب/ لجرمها المشتعل". من عناوين المجموعة نذكر: قبل أن أبدأ، يا لهذه العاصفة، صدف وأقدار، توثب، مدن السراب، وصايا الثأر من الفراغ، نبؤة وليست صدفة، قوافل مدمجة...إلخ.
