الشعر عند أحمد يعقوب المقلة محاولة حثيثة لتجميل العالم، يكتبه بمداد أرض بلاده الواسعة، انه عنوان لأصالة الإنسان البحريني البسيط، وبيئته الضاربة في عمق التاريخ. إذن، نحن مع شاعر يلامس وجه القصيدة ويداعب ظل المفردات ويسيل رقراقاً مع خفايا الصورة الشعرية المفاجئة. خامته مستلة من نقاء الذاكرة الأنيقة المتقدة، حباً للوطن والإنسان، كل ذلك جسَده الشاعر بترنيمات بدت تخرج لتعانق مسامع محبي هذا الموروث الشعبي ليلتقي بهم على شواطئ الوله. في قصيدة بعنوان (حمامات الوله) يقول الشاعر: "نايح حمام الوله ليش بحزن نفني/ يا صاحبي بالحشا صرخة تقل دفني/ لَحفني بشوق ولاَ حلَ لي دفني/ ظميان كل عطش من عينك ارويني(...)". يضم الديوان قصائد متنوعة قسمها الشاعر إلى ثلاثة مجموعات، المجموعة الأولى تضم "المواويل "الزهيريات)، والمجموعة الثانية: الشعر الحر(شعر التفعيلة)، وأما المجموعة الثالثة فهي: القصائد الشعبية.
