ولد بحلب، وفيها تلقى تعليمه.
عمل في بيروت محرراً لمجلة «المكشوف»، وأصدر مع عمر فاخوري ورئيف خوري مجلة «الطريق»، وتولى رئاسة تحريرها من 1941- 1947، ثم تولى إدارة مكتب دار الهلال المصرية ومراسلة صحفها، ثم عمل مديراً للمكتب الصحفي في رئاسة الأركان السورية، وعاد بعدها ليصدر مجلة «الحرية»، ثم ليؤسس دار نشر باسم «دار الكاتب العربي».
له العديد من المؤلفات، منها: ـ أبو ذر الغفاري: أول ثائر في الإسلام.
ـ جمال الدين الأفغاني: حكيم الشرق.
ـ أشهر المحاكمات في التاريخ.
ـ محمد عبده: بطل الثورة الفكرية في الإسلام.

يسرد "قدري قلعجي" في كتابه "ثمانية من أبطال العرب-حكايات الأيام الماضية لأبناء الأيام الآتية" حكايات وبطولات ثمانية من الأبطال والشهداء الذين نذروا أرواحهم في سبيل بلادهم وعزتها، يوسف العظمة، عمر المختار، عبد القادر الجزائري، عبد الكريم الخطابي، عبد القادر الحسيني، عبد الكريم الخليل، حسن الخراط، سعيد العاص. قصص ووقائع يدونها المؤلف ويسرد أحداثها من خلال تاريخية للأحداث التي رافقت ظهور هؤلاء المناضلين الذين عقد التاريخ على جباههم أكاليل الغار؛ كانوا على يقين بأن الاستقلال الذي نعمت به البلاد ما كان ليتحقق لولا الكفاح الذي اضرموا شعلته يوم استلوا سيوفهم ليقرعوا به جبين الدول المعتدية قبل الاستقلال. والهدف من هذا الكتاب هو الوقوف على ما أنجزه هؤلاء الشهداء لبلادهم، ولتعريف القارئ بحكايات ربما غابت عن تفاصيلها وذكريات تاريخها.
