القارىء لقصائد الشاعر الإماراتي "عبد العزيز جاسم" يتذوق الموسيقى في الكلمات، ويشهد الشعر كملحمة يتفرد فيها الشاعر برؤى مختلفة عما عليه الحال من ملاحم تقليدية، لأن الشعر الجديد برأي شاعرنا "ضخ في جسد الملحمة دماً جديداً كي تكون ملحمته هو ..". في "آلام طويلة كظلال القطارات" يجسد الشاعر إشكالية العلاقة المتعددة الإتجاهات ما بين الذات والعالم، في قالب شعري تارة، ونثري تارة أخرى يقدم لنا فيه تصورات وانطباعات ومواقف جمالية جريئة في طرحه لهذه المقاربة التأملية، فجاءت قصائده بطقوسها المتفردة خارجة عن المألوف بحدتها وشكلها المدروس، تحمل ما بين السطور سخرية مبطنة لما آلت إليه حياة البشر من شرور وضغائن وأحقاد، تربعت في النفوس وتأصلت؛ فأصبحت ثقافة الذات البشرية العصرية فجاءت هذه الشعرية محاولة من الشاعر للإجابة على السؤال الذي لا جواب له. لماذا الألم يلتهم حياتنا ولماذا الشر مولود في كل يوم. يقول: "ولد الشر بألف قلبٍ من الحص، والقبر جعلوه يصعد إلينا في المنام. فإلى اي ركن نلوذ؟ ومن سيجر نفوسنا، حين يربضُ السيف فوق منحر العدل، وتذوب أعمارنا في غلايات النسيان؟ (...) ولد الشرُّ كما تولدُ الأقنعة، وها هي رايته الكبيرةُ ترفرفُ فوق عظام العالم". ومع هذه الآلام الطويلة، لا بد للحب من مكان في سطور شعريته فجاءت قصيدة "تحت جمّيزة العابرين" تحمل بين ثناياها ملحمة الحب والحرب في آن، يقول: "وهو يصافحك، مثل جندي عائدٍ ، من الحرب تواً ، وقد نمت عشبة برية ، في خوذته ، ونسي دَمَهُ على الجبهةِ. ، (...) ، في تلك اللحظة ، أجهشت صحراء عطشى ، في عينيكِ ، وتبعها هدير الوَلَهِ ، المعذّبِ ، يا إلهي! ، أ إلى هذا الحد كنت تحبينهُ ، دون أن يعلم؟. هذا وقد جاءت هذه المجموعة في أربعة أقسام الأول بعنوان: "فوق مرتفعات الصمت" وتضم (3) قصائد، والثانية بعنوان: "بريد الهاوية" وتضم (17) قصيدة، أما الثالثة فهي بعنوان "الغيابات كلها" وتضم (9) قصائد، وتأتي الرابعة والأخيرة بعنوان "النحور في متناول اليد" وتضم (10) قصائد.
