ظل يوسف عبد العزيز، منذ بداياته الأولى، مخلصاً للقصيدة (المشهدية) التي كرسته واحداً من أهم شعراء الثمانينات، لا في الساحة الفلسطينية/ الأردنية فقط، بل في الساحة العربية بأسرها. وقد تميز نصه الشعري بنزوعاته السوريالية التي جعلته يقترب أحياناً من الكتابة الشطحية الرؤيوية، فيما كان النص المشهدي -عموماً- يجنح باتجاه الواقعية التفرجية، وينزلق شيئاً فشيئاً مع موجة حداثوية تدعو إلى البحث عن شعرية خارج الزمان: في فضاء تجريدي داخلي منفصل عن أي تعالقات سياسية.
لكن نص يوسف عبد العزيز ظل يجوس في المنطقة التعبيرية ذاتها التي نبت منها، لذا لم يتحول العالم عنده إلى خزان بصري بارد نمارس إزاءه غيبوبتنا التفرجية، بل ظل مادة للرؤية والتفاعل مع كل تلك التحولات التي تجري بسرعة مذهلة على جسد العالم، وتتركنا فزعين من هول ما نرة (صدأ على الأمواج، صدأ علي ضوء النجوم، صدأ على تفاحة المعنى، وأشهد أن هذه الأرض دونك دودة عمياء تسري في لحاء يدي، وأن الشعر نحل ميت فوق الشفاه) إن كل شيء صدى في هذا العالم ومهترئ، وذلك ما يجعل الشعر يسقط كنحل ميت لا عسل له.
إن هذا الإنشغال الأوفيدي عند يوسف بالتحديث في (التحولات) لم يدفعه إلى التخلي عن تساؤلاته الطفولية المدهشة التي تعيد كل شيء في الطبيعة إلى نقطة بدايته، وتضعه موضع استفسار: (أية حكمة في أن يكون البحر أزرق؟).
إن المشهد الشعري الثمانيني العربي يظل ناقصاً تماماً دون الانتباه إلى مركزية يوسف عبد العزيز فيه، وأهمية مساهمته في إغنائه، وإن مجموعته الجديدة هذه، التي تأخر نشرها كثيراً، ستبقى علامة شعرية بارزة لا غنى عنها لقارئ الشعر الحق، ولا لدراسة ولا لمؤرخه، مثلما أنها ستزيد قامة يوسف عبد العزيز الشعرية علواً.
