هذا الكتاب يعتبر دليلاً مفيداً، مرشداً مجدياً، ونموذجاً صالحاً لكل إنسان يأخذ على عاتقه، بشكل كامل أو جزئي حماية المواليد الجدد من الأمراض، ويعمل على معالجة حالاتهم المرضية وبخاصة أطباء الأطفال وطلاب الطب وأصحاب المهم الطبية الأخرى من ممرضين وممرضات ومسعفين ومسعفات. هذا وينقسم البحث في هذا الكتاب إلى مقدمة واثنى عشر فضلاً: احتوى الأول منها على عرض لحالة المولود الجديد السليم بدءاً بأجهزة الأمن عنده ومروراً بطاقاته وتغذيته وانتهاءً بملف ولادته وبما يحتويه هذا الملف من معلومات. أما الفصل الثاني فجاء للتعريف بالمقصود "بالمولود الجديد المريض"، وبما يحتاجه هذا المولود فور الولادة من إنعاش واهتمام، كما وفي هذا الفصل إطلالة على حالة المولود لأم مصابة بمرض السكري. وفي الفصول اللاحقة (بدءاً بالفصل الثالث وانتهاءً بالفصل الثاني عشر تعريفات مفصلة وتوضيحات كاملة تعني بشرح كافة الأمراض التي قد تصيب المولود الجديد، وما يرافق هذه الأمراض من آثار جانبية تؤثر على صحته سلباً. ومن الأمراض الذي يعرض لها الكتاب مذكر: ضيق التنفس عند المولود الجدي، داء الأغشية الشفّافة، الفتق الحجابي، استنشاق السائل الممزوج بالعقي، كيفية معالجة نوبات توقف التنفس، السل، التهابات الكبد، داء المقوسات الخلقي، التهاب CMV، اليرقان، رتق المريء، انسداد الأمعاء، نقص الدم، اضطرابات المسالك البولية، الرجل الخنفاء، الرضوض والضربات، شلل عصب الوجه، شلل عرق النسا، فقر الدم، انعقاد الدم المنتشر داخل العروق، نقص صفيحات الدم...
