"... فتح دش الحمام، انهمرت المياه على رأسه، شعر بأن الماء المنساب على جسده يتحول إلى اللون الأسود، وأن فتحة الصرف تطلق أطواتاً صاخبة عندما تغمرها المياه السوداء. صرخات ملايين المعذبين تجتمع في البالوعة، صرخات مجمومة فزعة ومرتاعة إلى درجة تعرف أن أحداً لن يسمعها ولن يهم لنجدتها أبداً، وأن عذابها باق ما بقيت صرخاتها.. لكنه كان يسمعها بوضوح.. قرب أذنه أكثر من البالوعة وأخذ ينصت.. "يا إلهي، ما الذي فعلته؟".
قص فراس عالم فيه وفرة في الحركة، وشعور متزايد بالقلق الوجودي، وتصريح يجبه التلميح، مع مسحة لا يمكن أن نغفلها لتلك الضمائر القلقة التي تحاول قدر جهدها أن تقرأ الواقع، فتفهمه، ثم تمارس لعبة الإضافة والمحو عن عمد كي تنسق العناصر المشتتة هنا وهناك.
