كنت أطلب إلى طفلي الأصغر أن يضع سبابته في فمي، وبالمقابل أضع سبابتي في فمه، ثم يبدأ العد: واحد، اثنان، ثلاثة.. ويطبق كل منا أسنانه على إصبع الآخر. كانت اللعبة لذيذة بالنسبة للطفل، وخاصة أنها دائماً كانت تنتهي بانتصاره... لم أكن أعطي لفكي الحرية في الأطباق على إصبع الطفل، إلا بمقدار ما أدعوه إلى تشديد إطباقه على سبابتي، وعند حد معين، صرت أدركه مع تكرار اللعبة، أصبحت أعرف متى يكون الطفل غير قادة على تجاوز آلام أبيه ومواصلة الشد، كنت أخشى أن يقو الكلمة قبلي فيخسر اللعبة. وأما لا أريد له ذلك, لذلك كنت أسبقه إليها في الوقت المحدد. فما تكاد الكلمة الذهبية تخرج من فمي، حتى ينتهي سياق التحمل.. (أخ)... وينفلت اصبح الطفل من فمي بسرعة البرق، فيما يظل إصبعى في فمه.. (تكسب) صاحب الإصبع الطليق هو الرابح، لأن الخصم انهار أولا... واعترف بألمه، فانطلقت إصبع الخصم من الأسر. (أخ)... كلمة واحدة وينكسر قائلها كرمح تناثرت أجزاؤه في العراك. لماذا يا بابا نستمر في هذه اللعبة؟ إن إصبعى تؤلمني بعد اللعب. ولكنك تنتصر دائماً... ألا يكفيك؟ غير أنك في مل مرة تؤلمني أكثر. ومع ذلك تتحمل... وتخرج منتصراً.. ألا تلاحظ أنك تزداد تحملاً؟ هكذا تحسم الكثير من معارك الصراع يا بني.. الذي يقول "أخ" ينسى إصبعه بين أسنان الخصم، ويخسر المعركة! لم يكن الطفل قادراً على فهم تلك الفلسفة، رغم معرفته بأسرار اللعبة وتطور تحمله، فلقد كانت أسناني مرة بعد مرة، تترك تجاويف أعمق في سبابته، وتمعن في تشويه طفولته.
