"مرت فترة لم يتكلم أحد منا.. شعرت بالذنب.. ولكن ماذا أفعل، هذا الشاب الجالس إلى جانبي غريب عني.. لم أره منذ كان طفلاً.. لم أتابعه في نشأته وتطوره.. هبط على فجأة رجلاً ملتحياً... لماذا أحاول إيجاد المبررات! أنه غريب وإن كان ابن أختي.. كيف أحاديث الغريب؟ وماذا أقول ابن أختي هذا؟ هل أخبره عن عملي ومنغصاته؟ ماذا يعرف عنه.. هل أحدثه عن ارتفاع الأسعار في عمان وبقاء الرواتب على حالها؟ هل أشرح له أن البحث عن شقة للإيجار صعب للغاية، وإن معظم الشقق الفارغة معروض معظمها للتمليك.. أم عن ارتفاع نسبة البطالة بين خريجي الجامعات وكليات المجتمع.. أم عن كثرة الحوانيت والمحلات التي تفتح ثم تغلق بعد سنة.. أم عن الحفريات والأشغال في شارع الجاردنز، والتي يبدو أنها مستمرة إلى أمد طويل، وإني أضع سيارتي في مكان يبعد كيلومتراً عن مركز عملي.. هل تهمه هذه الأمور وأمثالها؟ طبعاً لا... سأحدثه عن زوجتي وابني الصغير، ولكنه لا يعرفهما، وهما لا يعرفانه.. إنهما غريبان عنه وهو غريب عنهما وعني.. فبماذا أحدثه؟ كيف لي أن أكسر الجمود الذي يلفنا وأعبر حاجز الجليد الذي يفصل بيننا؟ العائلة تبقى الموضوع الوحيد المشترك وإن باعدت بيننا الأيام. ماذا قالت أمك عندما عرفت أني أسميت البني طاهراً على اسم جدك؟ لم تقل شيئاً. سترى ابني بعد قليل.. ستحبه.. فهو ابن خالك.. فالتفت إلي والتقت عينانا للحظة.. قرأت فيهما الكثير.. أو هكذا خيل إلي.. حملت نظرته تساؤلاً عن الإحساس الذي أكنه له، عن الشعور بين الخال وابن أخته، قبل التساؤل عن العاطفة لابن الخال، قرأت في نظرته أن صلة القربى لم تعد كما كانت.. وإنها أصبحت من مخلفات الوضع السابق، حين كانت فلسطين بلداً واحداً والسرة موحدة والعائلة ملتمة.. أهذا فعلاً ما قالته عيناه.. أم ترى كان اتهاماً لي ولأمثالي بأن هذا هو شعورنا نحن الذين لم نعد نعيش على أرض فلسطين؟؟". من هذا الكتاب عشر قصص قصير من واقع المجتمع الفلسطيني، ومن عناوينها نذكر: أريد هوية، تصريح الدخول، لقاء الأقارب، نسف بيت هل تستطيع معي صبرا...
