ولد في قرية ميعار في فلسطين المحتلة عام 1941 تهدمت قريته في حرب النكبة فلجأ مع أسرته الى قرية كابول عام 1948 .
أنهى الابتدائية في القرية والثانوية في كفر ياسيف وأنهى دراسته الجامعية في جامعة حيفا سنة 1976 .
يعمل بالتدريس منذ أنهى تعليمه الثانوي انضم الى العمل السياسي في صفوف الحزب الشيوعي في أواخر السبعينات وله نشاطات اجتماعية وثقافية عديدة.
محرر الصفحة الادبية في جريدة الاتحاد اليومية ، ترجمت قصصه الى عدة لغات ويقيم حاليا في فلسطين.
من أعماله: لكي تشرق الشمس سلاما وتحية جسر على النهر الحزين عائد الميعاري يبيع المناقيش في تل الزعتر وردة لعيني حفيظة عائد وحفيظة ويكون في الزمن الاتي عرس الفتى سرحان النخلة المائلة بالعربي الفصيح
