وفي هذا السياق تبدأ المؤلفة في الفصل الأول من الكتاب بالعودة إلى الأسس والمفاهيم المركزية، ثم تتناول في الفصل الثاني الدولة كمفهوم في محاولة لإعادتها إلى حجمها الحقيقي في منظومة المفاهيم الإسلامية؛ حيث إن المفاهيم – برأي المؤلفة – هي الأدوات الضرورية لفهم الواقع وتصوره، ثم التفاعل مع العالم وفق هذا البناء الفكري بمحاولة الحفاظ على استقراره أو تغييره، أو تحديد الثابت والمتغير والعلاقة بينهما. وفي الجزء الأخير من الكتاب تتناول أهمية التجديد على مستوى خرائط العلوم والدين وخرائط العلم والتمدن، ويضم نقاشاً حول العقل والدين والعلمانية ... وموضوعات أخرى ذات صلة.
