صدرت رواية " مون تايجر" للروائية البريطانية بينيلوبي لايفلي في العام 1987، ونالت عنها جائزة مان بوكر في ذات العام. كما رُشحت الرواية في العام 2018 للقائمة القصيرة لجائزة البوكر الذهبية ، وذلك بمناسبة الاحتفال بمرور خمسين عاماً على إطلاق الجائزة . تدور أحداث الرواية إبان الحرب العالمية الثانية، فيتصادم العام مع الخاص، ويقع هذا الصدام في حيز مكاني محدد هو مصر، التي تصبح في رواية لايفلي رمزاً للزمن ذاته. وكانت لايفلي نفسها- التي ولدت في القاهرة في العام 1933 لأبوين بريطانيين ، وعاشت في مصر حتى بلغت الثانية عشر من همرها- قد حصلت على لسانس التاريخ الحديث من جامعة اكسفورد ، مثل بطلة روايتها، المؤرخة كلوديا هامبتون. تقدم الرواية التاريخ، لا من منظور خطي تقليدي وتسلسل زمني طبيعي ، بل نجد الأحداث التاريخية وأحداث حياة البطلة نفسها وقد تداخلت معا، مع نقلات زمنية مفاجئة بين الماضي والحاضر. فمن خلال البطلة، تعرض لايفلي العلاقة المعقدة بين العام والخاص، والماضي والحاضر، واستعادة الماضي من خلال الذاكرة الجمعية والشخصية . تستخدم لايفلي في روايتها أسلوبا سردياً معقداً بعض الشيء حيث تحوي الرواية اصواتاً عدة ، ويُروى المشهد أكثر من مرة ، كل مرة من خلال عيني شخصية مختلفة من شخصيات الرواية. وقد ترجمت الرواية للعديد من اللغات، وتأتي الترجمة العربية ليتعرف عليها القارىء العربي.
