هذه سلسلة من القصص القصيرة للكاتب الياباني المعاصر ( ينواوي هيساشي) نقلها عن اليابانية د. وليد فاروق ابراهيم ، يحتوي الكتاب الأصلي على ثمان قصص ، ويقدم منها المترجم في هذا الكتاب أربع روايات. جميع الروايات يظهر فيها نفس الأبطال ، وهم الحلاق ( كووتارو) واصدقاء طفولته الخمس. ست شخصيات إقتربت من الستين من العمر، يعيشون في نفس الحي وكل منهم له عمل مختلف عن الآخر ولكنهم كثيراً ما يجتمعوا في دكان الحلاق الذي يملكه ( كووتارو) . نجد في كل رواية موقف أو حدث ما يتعرض له احد الرفاق ويشاركه الرفاق الآخرون في مواجهة ذلك الموقف ولا يخلو الأمر في بعض الأحيان من مفارقات طريفة في أحداث الروايات.
