He was the son of an Egyptian wealthy judge and a Turkish mother. The triumphs and failures that are represented by the reception of his enormous output of plays are emblematic of the issues that have confronted the Egyptian drama genre as it has endeavored to adapt its complex modes of communication to Egyptian society.
Book Description
Original Arabic. "The prince," stripped of his title and wealth by the government meets the "doctor" (Arabic language doctorate), and invites the pennyless doctor to live with him in his empty palace (which he cannot sell nor rent), until populated by Sheikh Abdul Salam, a religious and wealthy person, and his daughter, Karima. He's also the father of Salem, who is married to Mervat (the prince's eldest daughter). As time passes, the prince falls in love with Karima, and the doctor falls in love with Jehan, the prince's youngest daughter. Will the prince agree to marry his daghters to pennyless men?
