مَع وفاِة والديهما الغامضِة، تنقلُب حياة سلطان والعنود، ولا يعوُد شيءٌ كما كان. تتوالى المفاجآُت فوَر انتقاِلهما للسكِن مع جّدِتهما المجهولِة في مدينِة الخوِر. هناَك يكتشفان باباً عجيباً يقوُدهما إلى عالٍم آخَر، هو مملكُة إبريز، حيث تعوُد جّدتُهما شابًة، ويُصادقان ثعلباً وجمًلا وجربوعاً وشجرةَ غاٍف عملاقًة. ولكّن الأمرَ ليَس مجَرَد نزهٍة ترفيهيٍة، بل إّن مهّمًة مستحيلًة تنتظُرهما، إذ يكتشفاِن أّن أهَل المملكِة يعّولون منُذ مئاِت السنيِن على حضوِرهما وشجاعِتهما وإنقاِذ حجِر أساِس مدينِة الُزبارِة، الذي تستولي عليه ساحرةٌ شريرةٌ لها تاريخ غامضٌ هي أيضاً. يتقاطع مصير الساحرة معَ الولدينِ، وتتجّمُع خيوُط الأحداثِ في نسيٍج متعّدِد الألواِن والنقوِش، لترسَم لنا هذه الحكايةَ التي يصح فيها القوُل: أغرُب من الخياِل.
