في روايته "بياصة الشوام" يمد أحمد الفخراني نظره إلى أقرب ما يمكن، عميقًا إلى جوهر معيار الجمال وقيمته؛ هو لا يكتفي – إخلاصًا لمهمته في خلق الجمال على غير مثال – برصد المعيش أو بتحليله، هو لا يقف حتى عند إعادة تشكيله. يبدع "الفخراني"، بخفة وبراعة، حلقة جديدة في تجربة جمالية خاصة. "سعيد" بطل البياصة الإشكالي لا يرتحل في الأسطورة ولا يعيش التجربة، بل هو نفسه الأسطورة وتجربة الخلق القلقة، "سعيد" لا يسأل ولا يغامر، بل هو بذاته سؤال الأصالة يواجه المكرر والاعتيادي، في أسطورته الواقعية. إن جاز القول. يعلم هذا البطل الملعون تمامًا أن غايته بعيدة على قربها، مستحيلة على وجوبها، كما يقول "تخبرهم أنك ستنحت عصفورًا، فيجيبونك أن فكرتهم عن العصفور قد اكتملت ولا حاجة بهم للمزيد، تقول لكن عصفوري شيء آخر... لماذا يغفرون شيئًا غريبًا كأصابع جميلة وفاتنة على جسد قبيح ولا يغفرون لي تماثيلي التي لا تشبه العصافير؟".
